We devote ourselves to research and education with a focus on how we as humans relate to our own lives, to other people, to the unfamiliar and to history.
Our subjects, like religion, history, philosophy and gender studies provide a better understanding of both our own and other people's cultures. An increasingly globalized world also requires good language skills. We offer some 20 languages to immerse oneself in.
Research in the arts is characterized by diversity and breadth. In recent years, three profiles have developed into strong research environments at the faculty: language technology, medieval studies and cultural heritage studies.
